I was given a form in third grade about a local travel lacrosse team. I had an interest right away. I went to the first practice and I fell in love with the sport. Since that day I have been fully committed to the sport and will not let anything get in the way of me playing. Throughout the journey of lacrosse, I learned to be confident. This led to me playing boys tackle football at the middle school and varsity level where I have come across many obstacles. This has made me become a stronger person which led to me being voted as team captain my eight grade year. As being the only girl on the team and in my division I have been through criticism from parents, coaches, and players. None of them have brought me down. It has made me a stronger and better player. In lacrosse, some obstacles I have faced have been some teammates who were not supportive of me because of the fact I was in eighth grade and on varsity. I learned to accept the fact that not everyone will like me on the team but I should not let that affect how I play or support them. I will always support my teammates and not cause any problems because I know it causes issues within the team and it isn’t fair to everyone. I have learned through sports that the support of your team and holding each other accountable is important. In high school, I plan to do well overall and focus more on math and science. In college, I would like to study kinesiology and anatomy because I would like to be a sports medic.
People often comment that I am mature beyond my years. I attribute this to my parents getting a divorce when I was very young. My mom held me accountable for my actions. Since I was raised by my mom I learned to mature faster so I can help my mom and family. Due to this, I have learned to lead people to become a better version of themselves.
