I have only been playing lacrosse since the beginning of high school. In that short amount of time I have really learned to love the sport and I have grown a lot since my first game. I grew up playing volleyball, so it was a big change for me because I did not know much about the sport of lacrosse. Even though it may have been a big change, I was able to learn and grow in the sport very quickly. I grew up in a family of athletes so it was normal for me to challenge myself.
Lacrosse is special to me because of the love that I have developed for the game. The first time I played goalie my coaches just put me in goal and told me not to let balls in the goal. Obviously, it was a little nerve wrecking for me, but it was the first time that I had ever felt that much joy playing a sport. I now always know that when I am stressed or need something to take my mind off of what is going on with school or life I can go out of the field and take my mind off of everything. Lacrosse is a place that I feel at home with my teammates, coaches and just the sport in general.
Even though lacrosse is very important to me school always comes first. I have grown up with my dad as a football coach and he has instilled in me that I am a “student athlete”, student always coming first. This has given me the push that I have today to keep up good grades in honors and AP classes while still participating in a sport. My goal in high school is to graduate in the top percentage of my class. I have high expectations for myself in all aspects of life, but especially academically. I am looking forward to achieving high scores on both the ACT and SAT so that I am able to get into many colleges based on my academics and extracurriculars.
