My name is Athieno (ah-THYAY-no) Lironah (lee-RO-nah) Ngowe (nnn-GO-way). I've been playing lacrosse since it was first offered through Decatur Rec in 2006, when I was 9 years old. The goalie position quickly became my favorite (OK, I love the gear!), and I have specialized in goalie ever since - as a lefty. In 8th grade, I made the Decatur High School JV team as their goalie and played Varsity starter as a freshman. Other opportunities to play and learn more about being a good lax goalkeeper have been through the Georgia Tech lax camp and the Brett Queener Goalie Academy. I have played U15 and U19 elite tournaments through club and school lacrosse teams.
You can see film of my play on my YouTube channel, through IWLCA (Presidents Cup 2014 with LB3 Atlanta 2016/17 #66), and through Front Rush (Inside Lacrosse SE Girls Showcase 2014 Team 1 #102). If you are in the Atlanta area this season, my HS schedule is here http://alpharettaathletics.com/girls_lacrosse/girls_varsity_lacrosse/schedule
In addition to lacrosse, my passion is music. While I started with guitar at age 10, I now play bass, drums, and sing as well. I've played with the Atlanta School of Rock and Girls Rock Camp, and have played bass with the middle school jazz ensemble and sung alto in the choir. My career interests are in either youth counseling or forensic psychology (a la "Bones"). I'm also a lefty fencer on the Alpharetta HS Fencing Club and compete in epee tournaments at the club level. Fencing has been a great benefit to my goalie reflexes and footwork!
My goals include playing lacrosse in college, where I hope to study forensic psychology and someday work for the FBI.
