I've done a lot of things in my life, and it has all somehow led to a goal to play lacrosse in college. As the child of two Army officers, I moved around a lot, living in 6 different states and 9
different houses. Moving was always an event too, because I am the middle child of seven.
My parents always encouraged me to play sports, and since I moved around so much I had the opportunity to try plenty of them. I started with ballet and tap when I was about 7 and living in Virginia. I started swimming after I moved to Kansas and there was no dance studio near our duty station. After another move, this time to North Carolina, I joined a gymnastics team and learned how to rock climb. I was also able to keep swimming.
It wasn't until we moved to Idaho that I found lacrosse. Once high school started, I played volleyball in the fall, basketball in the winter, and lacrosse in the spring. Lacrosse quickly became my favorite sport, so, after a year or two, I left volleyball and basketball to focus on school, my job, and lacrosse. I've always been determined and hardworking, so after finding my love for lacrosse I wanted to try as hard as possible to be the best I could. I didn't necessarily plan to play lacrosse in college when I first joined the team. That all changed my junior year when I stepped into goal. The goalie on my team graduated in 2022, and since lacrosse is not huge in the inland Northwest, there was no backup goalie. I decided to step up, and I am so glad I did because goalkeeping is where I found my real passion for the sport. Being in the goal is what makes me want to play lacrosse in college. I have a really good eye for the ball, and enjoy working with our defenders to deny the shot to the other team’s offense. Over the past year, I've been looking to take any opportunity to play lacrosse so I can improve as much as possible. I've been playing on a summer team, attended a few different clinics, and plan to play in the fall as well.
Aside from sports, I want to pursue a career in computer science. Since Idaho lets homeschooled students attend high school part-time, I've been taking dual-credit computer science my junior year, and I'm taking AP computer science my senior year. I've also had two jobs, I worked at a local ice cream shop for two years, and I've been working as a lifeguard at my local YMCA this past year. I am excited to move on to the next stage and hope lacrosse can be part of that.
