Hello! My name is Sydney Smith and I attend Bishop Feehan High School in Massachusetts as a member of the class of 2023. I am a two sport athlete who plays soccer and lacrosse. I have played soccer for about 11 years and I am currently on the Varsity soccer team at Feehan. Soccer has improved my footwork and my endurance on the field. I played primarily defense on the soccer field but now I play attacking midfield. Midfield has helped me with my stamina on the field and my change of speed. I also played basketball for 8 years, which was very helpful to my lacrosse game given all the cutting, movement off ball and quickness necessary to the game. I’ve been playing lacrosse since 3rd grade and I started playing at the club level in 6th grade. I switched clubs in 8th grade to play with Goldstar Lacrosse. Goldstar has not only improved my skill set immensely, but also has taught me about sportsmanship and hard work. I notice the most improvements in my dodging, non dominant stick skills and my fitness at Goldstar. I am currently on the top 2023 team for Goldstar and I am right hand dominant attacker. I also play on the varsity lacrosse team for Bishop Feehan High School. I spend a lot of time on my own training and improving my game because I know how important it is to put in the work when no one is watching.
Off the field I work hard in the classroom to achieve the best grades possible. Lacrosse is a serious passion of mine however my education comes first. I received high honors every term of freshman year and I made honor roll every term as a sophomore. I am currently enrolled in an AP Seminar course that challenges me to work harder in the classroom and helps me grow as a student. I am organized with my school work as well as a hardworking student in and out of the classroom. Outside of school and lacrosse I like to volunteer through my school. I have participated in the making of thanksgiving baskets for those in need and providing Christmas gift cards for families who are less fortunate. I have recently been nominated to take part in a leadership seminar due to my leadership my soccer coach saw from me on the field. I’m excited to play lacrosse at the collegiate level and know I can be a solid contributor on and off the field!
