When I was in grade school, my mom and dad signed me up for the city softball league. I played catcher, first and third base, and was a pitcher. I was usually the lead-off batter because my coach said I was fearless. A few years later I started playing YMCA volleyball which transitioned into setting for a few USA Volleyball club teams. My freshman year in high school, they started a girls lacrosse program. I'd never played lacrosse before and wondered if I'd be any good. It was an opposing season to volleyball so I could play both sports. Making the decision to play lacrosse was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Because we were a new team, we weren’t allowed to have a Varsity team, but we played some Varsity games. I was the only freshman on the JV team which was a little scary at first, but I became great fiends with the upperclassmen. Having them be my role models, I’ve tried to reciprocate that towards the underclassmen as I’ve aged.
During my sophomore season, I almost beat a senior for the captain position, but I lost it by one vote, and at the banquet at the end of the season, my teammates voted me Overall Most valuable player. My junior year, I was voted team captain and Most Valuable Offensive Player. I look forward to what this season brings, and what I can bring to my team.
