In 5th grade after many years of baseball and softball I tried lacrosse and immediately said that I would give up softball for lacrosse. I have not stopped playing since, PAL league, town league, summer travel league and school ball. Every team has been different but I have learned so much along the way.
This year as a sophomore I was chosen to be on Massapequa High School's varsity team. This was a great honor, I played under coaches with many conference and county titles and with girls going to numerous division I, II and III schools next year. Although a bit scared at first I tried my best and received a good amount of playing time, including being on the field when my team won the Nassau County Championship. We put up a great fight in the Long Island Championship but eventually lost in double overtime. The hard work of this season has made me really want to continue playing in college.
I realize that college is not just about sports. The hard work I show on the field is the way I attack my school work. I have learned as a 3 sport athlete that time management is an important habit that must be mastered in order to accomplish your goals. I am proud to say that I have been on the honor roll every quarter since 7th grade and have achieved a 3.7 GPA while taking accelerated math, science and Spanish for 4 years. Right now, I am looking forward to majoring in either criminal justice or pre-law.
This will be my 5th summer playing for the Long Island Wave. This too has been a great learning experience and the opportunity to play in many tournaments on the east coast.
I hope to pursue my dream of continuing to be a student athlete in college.
