Thank you and hello, My name is Meira MacDonald. I am Mohawk nation and Bear clan. I am a seventeen year old teenage girl; from six nations and am learning Cayuga for my second language. My goal is to discover a new level of play; to give back to my Fist Nations community with the studies I choose take, to give back to the game of lacrosse either being a coach or mentor, and to be role model for younger athletes to look up to. My love for this sport evolved. My first love was gymnastics. I was a provincial approximately 6 years. I trained 24 hours a week, 50 weeks per year. I tried lacrosse as a secondary sport, when it was time to move on from gymnastics I focused and loved lacrosse. I am a determined, coach-able, a play maker, aggressive, focused, intense, a listener, hard worker, an all around player. I feel the best part of my game is my defense. I do my best to keep fit and healthy. The game of lacrosse is a big part of my family and I's life traditionally. The stories the elders have told me about our ancestors allows me to feel connected to the game, know who I am playing for, and to play for those who cannot. Lacrosse is a medicine game that keeps me balanced; mentally, physically, and spiritually. I grow more love for the game each day. I leave what ever happens on the field. I had the opportunity to tryout for the u19 haudenesaunee worlds team and made it to the final round. I was able to join the world u18 festival Team Israel. My first few years of life I battled hip dysplasia and it was successfully corrected.
