Firstly, I want to thank you for reading this. My name is Mané and I have now been doing lacrosse for 2 years now at Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy. I also would like to major in mathematics in college. I am here to see what different opportunities I have and options and I hope this helps me for college in the future. As a child, I wasn't into sports because were I come from, sports was more of a man's type of activity. When I came to the United states when I was 10 years old, it took me 4 years to finally try new things. I wanted to try something that was very new to me like sports. I wanted to tryout for sports but I didn't know what sport. I didn't want to try a common sport, I wanted to try something that I wasn't totally familiar with. That led me to choose lacrosse. I have never heard of it or seen it being played so I said to my self why not risk it.
I had to overcome many obstacles to become an official student-athlete. CGLA pushes its student at a maximum which got me to work even harder with keeping up with education based activities and sports activities. I learned many things about myself athletic wise. I realized I am a quick learner. I doubt it took me very long to be able to use a lacrosse stick. I also realized that I don't give up easily and my energy doesn't burn quickly while on the field. I tried out for basketball to if I was capable of doing two sports but I didn't love it as much even though I believe I played it well. My love for lacrosse has grown extremely since I started and it hasn't even been that long. I hope I hear from you soon.
Sincerely, Mané.
