I have been rowing for two years as stroke at North Suburban Crew, and it all started at my summer job when I was approached by a rowing coach of the nearby high school. I was working out of state at the time, but when I returned home I began looking for programs to learn more about rowing. From then on, I fell in love. I have had the opportunity to sweep and skull and I always feel at home when on the water. I was a Rhythmic Gymnast for 14 years so the dedication and hard work required to succeed is second nature. I am also a cross country and track & field athlete competing in High jump, Pole-vault, Hurdles, and 400s.
Rowing requires an athlete who can focus on individual growth and team collaboration, and these are all things that my years as a competitive athlete have taught me. Having the opportunity to work so closely with my teammates has given me a variety of skills varying from communication to conflict resolving techniques. As a team sport rowing has its challenges however working alongside likeminded girls with grit and aspirations to achieve great things is what fuels me every day.
As a student athlete, my academics have always been a high priority. From my involvement and leadership in a variety of clubs to being a symphony cellist. School work, specifically my success in school has been a constant expectation I hold for myself. My future aspirations include Veterinary medicine so having learned the student athlete balance early on I know I can achieve great things.
My goals for the future include bringing down my 2k time and continuing to improve overall as a rower. I am a dedicated and hardworking athlete who will put in the work necessary for growth and success. My love for rowing has been adamant since the first day we pushed off from the dock. Every morning when we are on the water and it is still dark so you can see the stars and the water has only the ripple of the oars touch, my appreciation for the sport and the rowers, I have met along the way are what make it so rewarding.
