Hi, my name is Fifi Cox and I am a female rower from New Orleans, LA. I started rowing in 9th grade and I was skeptical at first. I had barely ever heard of rowing and the only club in Louisiana was New Orleans Rowing Club. After my mom convinced me to try it out I realized, at the very first practice, that I loved it. I felt strong and excited that I found a sport I enjoyed and was excelling at. This is why I want to continue rowing in college. I crave challenges, which rowing presents me with many, and community. Being a rower is unlike anything I’ve ever done before but I love pushing myself harder and harder and the reward is always worth it. I want to continue rowing in college because even on those days when it gets too hard and I want to give up, I will always do my best and always put in my best effort.
