Hi! My name is Audrey Jane Young and I am a senior at Willow High School New Orleans. I have been playing soccer since I was four and it is a vital part of who I am. I play D1 Club soccer, ODP, and High School Varsity Soccer, as well as working, when possible, as a referee. I truly could not imagine my life without soccer. On the pitch, I consider myself a versatile player; I am confident in a variety of positions including: winger, wing-back, full-back, attacking center mid, and striker. I have a strong soccer IQ, constantly analyzing the game and reading the field. Although I have a very competitive attitude, I am extremely open to constructive criticism and coaching, making me an invaluable candidate for any competitive collegiate soccer program. I am eager to be constantly improving as a player, student, and individual through receiving constructive criticism and feedback.
I have been a starting varsity player through all four years of highschool, helping our team remain undefeated District Champions the past two years in a row, and our school team made it to the quarter-finals for the first time in the history of the program. In the 2021-2022 highschool season I was named 1st Team All District.
Currently I play for the Baton Rouge Soccer Club 05 Girls Black team (D1), transitioning from my previous club, DFC, this fall, due to coaching changes, and our season has just begun. My DFC team played in the D2 tier, as a new club, however, in the two years I played with the club, I was a starting player, in 2021-2022 we went to USYS Presidents Cup Regionals in Dallas, and this season, 2022-2023, we made it all the way to the semi-finals at USYS Presidents Cup Nationals, in Wichita, KS, receiving a proclamation of achievement and community representation from St. Charles Parish, Parish Council, for our efforts. I also was selected to participate in the Southern Regional ODP Combine this summer.
Academically, I value challenging myself through new experiences and rigorous courses, with a serious interest in photography and graphic design. I maintain a 4.0 average, have taken 5 AP courses, numerous honors courses, and will receive a Certificate of Artistry in Media Arts, when I graduate.
