2024 SpotlightPersonal Statement
I first experienced and fell in love with rowing when I attended a learn to row program at CRI in Spring of 7th grade. In 8th grade I registered for a Spring/Summer middle school rowing program at Cohasset Maritime Institute. We often raced another boat/teammates in the "nautical mile" to the Minot Lighthouse and back. Being out on the open ocean on a beautiful day was breathtaking and thrilling (we rowed in wider more sturdy boats for the open waters).
When I joined the Hingham High Crew team in fall of my freshman year it felt even more like home. All the work with my teammates during the week paid off as we saw great success at regattas. The rest is history as I become hooked more and more everyday! For the next 3 years I am going to work hard and enjoy this time with my crew family.
