My name is Maeve Schnorr, and I’m a member of the Class of 2025 at Hingham High School in Hingham, MA. I have been rowing since 2019 and competitively since the Fall of 2021 with the Hingham High School Girls Crew Team. I currently row port in six seat in the V1 8+ for our team. During our 2022-2023 school year, I had the privilege of representing Hingham High Girls Crew at the Head of the Charles Regatta and helped lead our V1 8+ boat in the New England Interscholastic Rowing Association (NIERA) Regatta and to the grand finals at the Massachusetts Public School Rowing Association (MPSRA) Regatta. During this time, I have also been an honors student.
Continual improvement and the fun of being on a team are what excite me most about rowing. Most recently, I PRed on my 2K erg test achieving 7:41.6. I was so happy to receive the following awards from my coaches and teammates: Most Valuable Athlete (Fall 2022), Novice Rising Star (Fall 2021) and Most Competitive Duo (Spring 2023). During summer break, I have also gained much helpful feedback on improving my power and form in the boat from great coaches during summer camps at Navy Rowing Camp in Annapolis, MD (Summer 2023) and Northeast Rowing Camp in Hope, ME (Summer 2022). I am already looking forward to seeing what the next school year will bring.
I plan to continue rowing in college at a high level at a school where I can also receive a great education. I am excited about the opportunity to continue to study, compete and build a close community of friends as a collegiate rower just as my sisters Claire (US Naval Academy ’24) and Teagan (College of the Holy Cross ’26) and father, Peter (US Naval Academy ’85) have enjoyed.
