My goal is to secure a spot as coxswain in the freshman class of 2017 at a university where I can also pursue my interests in psychology and nursing. When I was in 6th grade, it was suggested I would be a good coxswain - I was smallest in my grade but also voted most organized. I joined Long Island Rowing that summer and have been a coxswain since.
Always being among the smallest in my class, it would be easy to be intimidated, but I've preferred to use that as motivation to take on challenges - both athletically and academically. For several years, I coxed rowers who were much older than me and gained their respect. Similarly, I've challenged myself with rigorous course loads. I believe the combination of being organized and strong willed serves me well as a coxswain and will be an trait I’ll continue to develop in my collegiate career.
