Rowing has been a huge part of my life since I first got in a boat in middle school. Right away, I loved the feeling of the boat gliding through the water, but more importantly, I enjoyed the relationships I built and the team effort that went into being successful. Every stroke I take affects my whole team, and we all have to work together to succeed. I’ve learned that we’re only as strong as the effort we all put in, and there’s something amazing about finding that perfect rhythm with my teammates.
Rowing has also taught me how to push through tough times. Whether it’s waking up early or staying late for practice, facing tough opponents in races, or dealing with bad weather, rowing has shown me how to keep going no matter what. It’s not always easy, but that’s what makes the victories feel even better. Rowing has also taught me how to work with others and deal with challenges. Every race depends on how well we can sync up as a team and trust each other to keep going. I've also learned a lot about handling setbacks — whether it’s an unset boat or a disappointing race, rowing has shown me how to push through and keep focused on our goal.
Looking ahead, I’m really excited about the possibility of rowing in college. I want to take on bigger challenges, grow as an athlete, and continue to learn from my teammates. Rowing has taught me so much already, and I know it will help me push my limits and reach new goals in the future—both on the water and in life.
