I look forward to joining a collegiate rowing team as being part of a tight-knit community gives me opportunities to work hard and contribute to team success. I find satisfaction in the mental and physical challenges rowing presents to me. After I began sculling in 8th grade, I soon fell in love with the sport. In 9th grade, I earned the opportunity to row with the varsity team despite it only being my first year with Robinson. Throughout the season, I put in numerous hours of conditioning outside of regular practice which paid off as I seat raced into the W-1V-8. In the summer and fall, I rowed with Potomac Boat Club, placing 4th in the Women's U17 4x at the 2022 Youth Summer National Championships and 2nd in the Women's HS JV 4x at the Head of the Schuylkill that same year. In 2023, I rowed with PBC again and placed 5th in both the U17 4x and 2x at Summer National Championships. In the fall that same year, I placed 6th at Head of the Schuylkill in the Women's Varsity 4x (as the only U17 rower in the boat), and earned the opportunity to race at Head of the Charles for the first time. This summer I'm excited to row with Potomac Boat Club again for a third year. Even now, I remain enthusiastic to put in the extra work to not only improve myself, but also my boat.
When I'm not rowing, I'm pursuing academic achievements. I particularly love learning about science and enjoy taking upper-level classes like IB Chemistry and IB Biology. Outside of my required classes, I participate in activities like the science fair, where I earned an honorable mention, and the National Latin Exam, where I placed 2nd. My projected courses have me on track for earning the IB Diploma. I recently earned my Silver Trefoil Award for Girl Scouts, which I had to complete 100 hours of community service in various categories to be eligible for. I believe that being an active member of the community through service is important to promote a welcoming environment. In my mind academics and athletics are equal, so I am looking for a program that will provide extreme competitiveness in both areas.
