Hello, my name is Sophie Murphy, I play outside midfield (wing) for Mountain United Football Club (2003) located in Burnaby, BC Canada. My positions do vary in the midfield, I also play right fullback, and sometimes attacking midfield. I started playing soccer in the first grade. As soon as I touched a ball and put on my first pair of cleats I knew this sport was for me! I started more competitive soccer when I was in the fifth grade when I got chosen to play on the Squamish Youth Soccer Association select team. Since then I've worked my way up the level of play, I am currently with Mountain United FC (BCSPL) after a lot of determination. I have done many invitational whitecaps academies in Vancouver and Squamish. I also have had the amazing opportunity to play in a tournament in Flagstaff, Arizona with European Football School. I feel I have become brave and stepped out of my comfort zone, because I have worked my way up the level of play and I feel that I've earned everything I have accomplished. My parents and I are very committed to soccer, because 5 days a week we drive an hour and a half for practices and games sometimes even more. My school work is consistently in handed in on time. I usually finish my school work in class and if not on the car rides to soccer. Soccer has been a huge impact on my life it's made me have self discipline as well as confidence on and off of the field, but most of all it brings out my competitive nature. I understand that collegiate soccer is representing your school which is of huge importance and it be an honour to be chosen to play.
Thank you,
Sophie Murphy
