Hello, my name is Chloe Pajaro and I am going to be a junior this year at Edison High School. Along with playing Varsity high school soccer there, I also play club soccer for California Rush in the Discovery/NPL league for the 05 age group. I am a goalkeeper and have been playing soccer for 8 years. I became interested in this sport in elementary school, just playing small scrimmages with my classmates that I found to be a lot of fun. It has been my passion ever since, and whether I am playing up the field or as a goalkeeper, I just love to play the sport in general.
One of the greatest things about soccer is that it has taught me many fundamentals about life. It has taught me to be adaptable and that to be successful, it is necessary to fail. As a goalkeeper, not every game is the same and I have had to adapt to different conditions and circumstances on the field. Mistakes are also inevitable and should be perceived as opportunities to learn and get better. Learning these lessons have overall helped me become more confident in myself and in how I play. My love for soccer makes me want to play for as long as I can, so I believe college soccer would be a great way to do that. Collegiate soccer would overall help me continue to grow and develop as a goalkeeper, challenging me in a competitive atmosphere with other top athletes. I love a challenge and play against top flight, discovery/NPL, and ECNL teams, along with high school varsity players. I am looking for a college program that facilitates a competitive atmosphere and drive of success, and pushes their players to do their best and get out of their comfort zones. This type of program will help me grow into the best player I can be.
For me, it is important to attend a college that aligns with my career interests, which includes athletic training, journalism, sports management and exercise science. Later in life, I want to use those majors to become either an athletic trainer or physiotherapist. Education is my utmost priority, so it is very important for me to attend a university that will challenge me academically and prepare me for those careers. Along with these academic considerations, I would love to play for a college that utilizes the goalkeeper when building out of the back and maintaining possession. I would make a good fit for these programs because I enjoy playing with my feet, and believe that a goalkeeper is another field player that is necessary for maintaining possession and switching the field. They are an outlet to help their teammates, primarily through communication, opening up to receive the ball, and relieving pressure. I feel that I fit these attributes of a goalkeeper and would benefit college programs that use the goalkeeper in this way.
