Hi, my name is Brooklyn Williams and I am a Junior at Ann Sobrato High School in Morgan Hill CA. My journey starts in 2010. I was four years old and no one in my family knew anything about soccer, but I was insistent on trying it. After my first practice, I came down stairs with my tiny soccer ball on my hip, and told my mom - “when I grow up, I’m going to be the most famous soccer player in the world. I’m going to sign little girls’ soccer balls, and everyone will chant - “BROOKLYN!” “BROOKLYN!” “BROOKLYN!” Even at four years old, I already had my future planned, and ever since that moment, I have been in love with soccer. Growing up I didn’t want to be just an athlete, but a star and to be successful, so I care a ton about my grades, with my goal of playing D1 soccer and be the first one in my family to get into a D1 college. I have a 4.2 GPA and have maintained a 4.0 or better since Freshman year. In soccer, I am a team player, driven and determined. I always work hard whether we are doing a passing drill, sprints, or even doing something as simple as staying on my toes when drills are being explained. I am now a starter on both my club and high school teams and am a team captain on both. My main position on the field is outside back (2 and 3) however can be used as right or left mid (7 and 11) as I can use both feet, and can also play forward (9). During my high school years of soccer I was able to play all of the positions on the field which has broaden my knowledge of each position and the game itself. I am confident with playing any position on the field. My strengths on the field are my speed, physicality, footwork, crossing, making decisions, tactical speed, IQ, being a team player, and my coachability. I am constantly thinking on how I can get better everyday and take criticism as a chance to improve my game. "It's all about hours" I always say, so I make sure to put in as many as I can everyday. Off the field I participate in many clubs such as peer counseling to help younger kids manage their mental health, crochet club to provide the homeless with scarfs, and am the vice president of BSU (black student union) at my high school. I also am an aspiring writer, as I write poems, songs and raps that I share and perform and I aspire to be a sports psychologist in order to help athletes like me handle the mental game of high level sports. I am also apart ASB in order support the student body and other hobbies I have are Djing, horseback riding and enjoy playing volleyball and running track.
This has been my dream since I started playing soccer and I will do anything to make my dream come true! Thank you!
