Competition is in my blood. As the youngest of three siblings, I am constantly fighting to be the favorite child. My desire to be the favorite child has instilled motivation in me to perform the best I can under any circumstance. This motivation and competitive nature have been carried onto the soccer field, driving me to work hard to improve my skills, game and mentality. Whether on a soccer field or waiting to get into a college, goals determine everything. One consistent goal for me has been to play at an elite level in college and, if possible, beyond.
Soccer tests not only the physical abilities of each player but also the mental strength and growth of those players. I am constantly having to determine which person to pass to, whether I should shoot or not, or if I should let one mistake dictate the rest of my game. The thrill of chasing the ball, scoring, passing, really all of it, constantly resides in my mind and pushes me to keep going.
Motivation, leadership, kindness, optimism, and responsibility are the main values that determine what kind of person and soccer player I want to be. I have a responsibility to maintain leadership and kindness throughout the soccer game while staying motivated enough to work and play hard. Each of these values can also be applied to everyday life. Leading with kindness is very important but also making sure you are being responsible and motivated.
