I hated soccer. I used to cry myself silly every Saturday all in an attempt to get my parents to bring me home and forget that we ever came to that field. That was until the one day my parents convinced me to play in that one game. Hate it, I leave, no questions asked. But after two goals and the joy of making my teammates happy with a win, I never looked back.
What had been a burden on my brain every weekend turned into what has helped define my young life. The two-goal game to start my young career was not enough. I had to do more, had to get better. It was this attitude that lifted me to travel teams, to premiere, to ODP, to United and finally starting every minute of my freshman year in high school.
This dedication carried over to my academics as well. The desire to be the best helped me earn high marks through middle school. It is this drive that has pushed me whether in soccer, lacrosse or academics. That drive got me into Canterbury School. That drive has pushed me to the highest of honors academically. But my desire to be the best cannot be done alone.
Throughout my playing years, whether in travel, premiere, ODP or my time playing overseas in Italy, coaches have always told me I had the size, the speed, the toughness, but it all means nothing without my teammates. We need each other to work through the good times and tough times, and I try to be there for them.
If you choose me to play on your team, I will bring that same work ethic and fight, working for coaches, myself and all my teammates to get better every day, both on the field and off. I love this game, so much that my dream is to not only play in college but also in the Olympics.
