I have loved sports since I was little. I have always loved watching any an all sports with my family. This continued when I started playing team sports. I fell in love with volleyball when I started to play on a recreational team in 2nd grade. After trying volleyball, I played recreational soccer, and my mom coached all of my teams. I attend a small Christian school in Delaware, and I was eligible to play on the varsity team in middle school. I have played on the JV volleyball since 6th grade and varsity soccer since 7th grade. I initially was interested in playing volleyball at the collegiate level, but in the past 6 months my passion for soccer has grown above that of volleyball. I love the speed of the game and I am adaptable at any position; however, I currently play outside back.
I know that I am coachable because I am always looking to improve from practice to practice and game to game. If my coaches tell me to make adjustments, for example dribbling too much while playing defense, I am quick to heed their instruction. There have been times when they asked me to play at midfield in the middle of a game and I did not question them, rather quickly moved up.
Though I love playing sports, my academics have always and will continue to come first. Academically, I have maintained straight As since 7th grade while being an athlete. I am goal-oriented, and I love to study and learn anything and everything I get my hands on. My mom is a high school English teacher and my dad is an engineer, so when I do not understand something in English or math I go to one of them for help. I like to stay on top of my work, so I often get a head start by beginning and finishing an assignment before it is due. I do not want to worry about not being able to complete my teachers' standards and it also gives me extra time to ask questions so I can submit my best work.
The career I would like to pursue is pre-med and this has been my dream since 5th grade. I love everything about science especially biology and anatomy. My parents have bought me a variety of science related resources, and I study it every day to gain more knowledge. I even give myself tests, no matter what the subject is, so that I have a complete understanding of what I am learning.
I plan to attend a Christian university to meet my career goals, and I want to make sure the school is the right fit for me: first spiritually, academically, and then athletically. I am looking forward to seeing where this process takes me.
