My name is Kennedi Vowell, and I am a Harris County High School senior. I maintain a 4.3 GPA and am very involved in my school. I am vice president of the National Honor Society, Vice President of student government, a member of BETA, a member of the Science National Honor Society, and a member of the English National Honor Society. Excelling in school is my number one priority. I plan to major in Early Childhood education during college.
Along with school, soccer is my number one priority. I have been playing soccer since the age of 10, and my passion for the sport has only grown stronger. I have lettered four years on the varsity high school soccer team, and I have been captain of my club soccer team for three years. I currently play for SCCL SSA South out of LaGrange Georgia. As a player, I am always working and striving to become better. I would say I am a very coachable player because I continually ask for feedback from coaches and always take in what feedback I receive. I feel that I am a positive person even when a game is not giving me the results I want. In my junior year, I was awarded the TANO award. This award means I am the most spirited on and off the field. This award reflects me well because lifting my team up is something I constantly do. I understand that soccer is mainly a mental game; therefore, I always try my best to keep my teammates in the correct mindset with themselves and each other. My main strength on the field is definitely my soccer IQ. I am a quick decision-maker as a midfielder, and I control the pace of the game for my team. Sometimes staying in love with a sport that hasn't always given back what you've put in can be hard, but I always remind myself for why I play. I play soccer because I simply love the game and the way the adrenaline makes me feel. I aspire to play college soccer because I could never imagine not playing soccer after high school.
