I started playing soccer when I was 3 years old. My parents put me into many sports at that age, they wanted to give me opportunities and let me choose what sport I enjoyed playing. As I got older I dropped many sports but soccer just felt different. I knew I wanted to continue it and move on to something more difficult than the league I was in. I joined a traveling team when I turned 10 and have been on a total of 4 different travel teams since then. Improving and adding competitiveness to my game.
Soccer for me has always been my outlet when things got rough at home or at school. I knew soccer was there and that on the field none of my problems mattered. People know me for who I was on the field, not the person I was at home or the friend at school. When it comes to what makes me different then other recruitments is my motivation to work hard and push myself to become the best I can be. My drive to want to work hard comes from the opportunity my birth mom gave me. When I was 3 I was adopted from Guatemala by my current parents. My birth mom knew that it wasn't safe for me to stay in Guatemala and that I would have a better chance at survival and success in the states. So when I am training for soccer or before a game, or even during a game, I think of her and how she game me up so I could be there right now training and playing, something she might have never been able to give me.
What makes me a good candidate for a colleges team is how I have a very up lifting and positive vibe. When I see someone down or feel like they messed up a play, I tell them that mistakes happen and that next time you do that play 10x better then you originally planned on doing it. I was put as team captain for this soccer season. And one thing that I find very important when it comes to having a excellent team. Is making sure everyone feels like they can trust one another, weather that is with a soccer ball or just with each other in general. My high school team last year we were so close they were like sisters from another mother, and that bond it what helped our team get so far. And is something I want to make happen this year with the team.
