Piper Gallaher '22 Recruiting Profile

Yes, I am crazy!! I have been told by friends and teammates over the years that I’m crazy for wanting to play goalkeeper so then they ask why.  I answer the same every time: the adrenaline. Being able to save the game or being able to make a great save is exciting. The adrenaline gets pumping and you live in the moment.

I aimed high with my goal of being on varsity as a freshman. The realization of making JV instead was crushing, but I channeled it into my playing on JV and because of my performance, I was able to get pulled up to varsity during the season. I ended up starting on both JV and Varsity! On JV, we lost the first three games then won or tied the next 9 games, and I registered 6 shutouts in that stretch.  I was voted "MVP" by my JV teammates at the end of the season. 

Playing in college has been a dream of mine since I was 10 years old and it’s been on my bedroom wall to remind me.  I am athletic (also play middle hitter in volleyball on the varsity team and was on the varsity basketball team  this year that made an appearance in the Illinois Elite 8!) I am excellent in the classroom, and I have the determination to be successful.
