Looking back at my time growing up and playing soccer the most important word I learned and practice is resiliency. From switching clubs and not knowing anyone on my team to losing the ball in a one versus one play I have had to fall back on that one word. Resiliency to me means how you come back after something bad happens. A coach once told me and my team "In life, you have to be like a bouncy ball. The harder you fall the higher you gotta come back up." This saying has stuck with me and influenced every part of my life. In school and soccer, when I make a mistake I think of the bouncy ball and how now I have to do my part and bounce back up. The second effort to win the ball back when you lose it, helping your team in the next play, even coming to practice and working even harder after losing a game have been some examples of how resiliency impacts in soccer. Now looking ahead to my future I want to use that lesson to find a team that works together to find resiliency after inevitably making a mistake. Not just in soccer, but in school as well I am trying to find a place that fosters this growth mindset and encourages not just immediate success but the hard work and dedication to bouncing back up.
