I have always been a person motivated by myself to be the best that I can be. I push myself to levels that others would not, and I have a deep passion for people. These parts of me come alive when I play soccer. Soccer is a sport that I love because of the creativity of the play, the importance of each individual, and the bond of the team. This is why I want to play in college. I know that I have the ability to go to college using just my academics, but I also know that I really want to continue my athletic career because it’s a place where I can enjoy myself, focus on something I love, and push myself.
I am always trying to better myself, not only for myself, but for my team. When I play, I play to inspire my teammates to work harder, try endlessly, and give everything they’ve got. I had to learn to be a leader for my high school team long before I was an upperclassman. Freshman year, I was starting center back for varsity, and suddenly I had the expectation to be vocal and decisive. I also had my own expectations for myself: to do my job well. Over the past couple of years I have been finding my strengths and capitalizing on them, and discovering my weaknesses and growing from them. I have had to become comfortable playing multiple positions in each game. I learned that it takes heart, confidence, and unity to succeed… and I cannot wait to see what else I can learn by playing at the collegiate level.
