Being part of a team has been a big part of my life since I began playing soccer at seven years old. I love being part of a team. Whether it was my early rec team, my club teams, or high school, I love the friendship and sisterhood of being a part of something bigger than myself. I started focusing on being a goalkeeper when I was 9 and have been fortunate enough to play on multiple high level teams, state teams, and participate in goalkeeper training with some of the best, such as Jon Busch and Andy Swift. I love the mental and physical challenges of the position as well as my role as a leader on and off the field. I also enjoy other physical challenges, including weight training and conditioning. My goal is to continue my journey with soccer and be an integral part of a college team while obtaining the highest level of education possible. After college, I would like to continue on to medical school with a focus in orthopedics and sports medicine. I can't see a future that doesn't involve sports in some way.
I believe that being in goal magnifies successes and failures and forces you to adapt and move on immediately. I have to stay focused on the game and organize my teammates. When the team is down, I get to be the player to lift them up and get them focused on the next opportunity. Being a goalie gives me a voice, confidence, and the ability to impact a game. I believe that the lessons I have learned and continue to learn in soccer will help me throughout my life.
