I am a 16-year-old Junior at Patterson Mill High School in Bel Air, Maryland. My hobbies include playing soccer, painting, spending time with friends and family, working out, listening to music, playing violin, and baking. I have been on the honor roll every year since Middle School and was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society. This honor society shows scholastic distinction by doing service, showing leadership, character, and citizenship. I am currently enrolled in Honors English, and AP computer science. Though these hobbies are so important to me, one stands out the most; and its soccer.
Soccer has been my passion since I was six years old. I played for my first team, The Fireflies, as an attacker. Throughout the years, I have moved my way to playing defense as an outside back and occasionally defensive midfield or center back. I have been playing for Pipeline ECNL-R for the past 4 years as a starter and captain. I also made my High School varsity soccer team as a starting outside defender as a Freshman, Sophomore, and continuing as a Junior this year.
High school soccer has taught me new ways to look at the game and I have adapted to playing with different people and in different soccer positions and learning valuable leadership skills needed during a match. No different than Club soccer, I have learned that making mistakes is part of the game and can only make you stronger if you react to challenges in a positive way. It has also allowed me to branch out and develop new skills in different positions and in different sports. I became a multi-sport athlete last year playing lacrosse for varsity on my high school team. It was certainly a new sport to get used to, but life can never be carried out and truly lived to its fullest until you have faced challenging adventures. Throughout my life I’ve realized sports is such a tremendous part of my life. Never less, I want to be able to study it and pursue it as a major in Kinesiology.
