As a kid I tried to do any activity possible that involved the outdoors. This included: riding my bike, scooter, and skateboard, playing basketball, running around the neighborhood with friends and other activities. My first interactions with soccer were in elementary school where I played with the boys, but I had never taken it seriously until middle school. During this time I was granted a spot on the team and fought for a starting spot every year by improving on a weakness I had the previous year. Doing this enabled me to learn that no matter how satisfied I am, there is always something I can improve on, whether it be in sports or any other areas in my life. I am open minded and open to hear any criticism that can help me become a better person and athlete. My family also plays a part in me growing and improving by supporting me every step of the way. My sister told me once that if she allowed me to slack or make excuses for myself then I "would not work as" I should. This has become a motivating factor in my everyday life and what I will take onto the next level.
As a college athlete I would like to take my game to the next level by working harder than I have ever before, by maintain my grades and advancing my skill levels on the field. I aspire to improve my weaknesses everyday in my everyday life as well as on the pitch. I am determined to get where I want to and will not settle for less. An example of this was my junior year; my sophomore year was not the best so I worked everyday in and out and told myself that "I wanted to be MVP." This goal encouraged me to workout the days I did not want to just so I can secure that award. Throughout the season many people such as my teammates and coaches were surprised on how well I improved from the previous season. This resulted in me becoming captain for my team, receiving the MVP award for my school and honorable mention in All-State. During this year, my team also won Regional Finals for our 4A section. I want to be in an environment where people are also working hard and motivating each other to meet their goals. This environment will allow me to no doubt put in work everyday in order to keep up with my teammates and my peers. I strive to be apart of an honors program in college and find other ways to participate in my community.
