Something that I strive to implement in both my academics and athletics is the ability to adapt. I feel this is very important because there is nothing that goes on in your life that you can completely plan for. You always will encounter scenarios where you have to learn and grow, and the only way you can come out of it stronger, is by having an open mindset. You must be able to take the positive and negative and turn it into something you learn from. There was a point in my 2019 season where I had to shift back to defense and cover for one of our core players. Although very uncomfortable at first, I took the opportunity to make myself a more well rounded player. During that time, I was learning how to best impact the defensive line and I couldn’t do that by myself. I had to expand my knowledge of the field and take criticism from my teammates and coaches that were more experienced. I apply this mentality to all new situations I am now faced with, whether on the field, on the track, or in the classroom. I feel that I will be able to bring a strong impact to my new college team because I have a positive attitude towards new situations and I have a strong work ethic.
