I love the thrill and the excitement of the game. I countdown the hours till practices and game days, waiting for my opportunity to strengthen my skills on the field. When I want to achieve my goals, I will do everything I can to help me reach them. This mindset does not only apply to my athletic career, it also applies to my academic career. Characteristics in my athletic and academic career are very similar. Many coaches and teachers describe me as hardworking, motivated, disciplined, cautious, and dedicated.
I have played soccer since I was 5 years old. I began when my parents enrolled me in Maynard’s recreational program and have played every year since. As I continued to play, my love for the sport grew. From playing for my town to competing in the Massachusetts Town Select League (TSL) and Massachusetts District's Select Program (DSP). With the experience of the TSP and DSP, I braved tryouts for an opportunity to play on my high school’s Varsity team, which I made. I could not be more grateful and excited for the opportunity to compete in a high-intensity and competitive environment. Lastly, in November of my Freshman year (2023) I made the club team Strikers United Girls 2007, playing an age group above me. I strive to have the best touches and perform at my best ability on any given day.
On the field, I have many different strengths that shape me into a unique player. One of them is my physicality. I am physical on the ball, for when I fight for a 50/50 ball, I go all in making sure I win possession for my team. Next is my speed. I use my speed to my advantage when I am tracking down a through ball sent by the opposing team, or making an overlapping run up the sideline. Another strength of mine is my field awareness/game knowledge. I use this to position myself in the best place to support my teammates for a pass or where I successfully win the ball back.
But my work does not stop when the season ends. I work year-round whether it is in the gym lifting, running to build my endurance, or finding a nearby facility to work on my touches.
Academically, I strive to get the best grades I can. If I do not completely understand the material. I will advocate for myself by emailing my teachers to see when they are available for extra help, asking questions in class, attending homework club, or most recently working with a tutor to reinforce concepts. Within Maynard High School I am part of my class’s student government, where I hold the position of Public Relations. As the PR coordinator, I manage the class’s Instagram by posting announcements regarding fundraisers, class dues, or events happening at the school.
Outside of school, I volunteer my time to watch children at Mount Calvary Preschool’s Parents Night Out and as a player-coach at Maynard’s Tiger Cubs Program. I am an active employee at Teamworks Acton Family Sport & Recreation Center, and a referee for Maynard Youth Soccer, Nashoba Valley, and Town Select League. At Mount Calvary Preschool’s Parents Night Out, I supervise and engage in play with children ages 2-10, assist in serving them a meal, clean up and keep the children safe. As an employee at Teamworks Acton Family Sport & Recreation Center, I instruct two fifty-five minute soccer clinics and then assist in a 45-minute clinic. During clinics, I am responsible for teaching basic soccer skills and keeping the kids engaged in drills.
I believe that I can be a good fit for your team, with my determination, resilience, and my dedication to myself and my teammates around me.
