Hi! My name is Kelly McLaughlin, and I am a junior at Francis Howell High School in St. Charles Missouri. I aspire to continue my soccer career at the college level because I couldn't imagine soccer not in my life. It is a beautiful game that has helped shape me into who I am today and has pushed me to go beyond what I think I can achieve. I started playing soccer when I was 4 years old, playing on various clubs and teams of many levels, always staying passionate about the game. After tryouts my freshman year, I got cut from my high school soccer team. However, instead of seeing this as a reason to quit, I chose to use it as a tool to push myself more than I ever had. That season I went back to my club team and trained many hours at home, pushing myself to be better so that at the end of the season I tried out for and made a championship division team, a major step up from my previous team. On this new team, my passion for soccer continued to grow, and I was able to help in moving us up to a premier division team. In the spring of 2020 I decided to play for the Missouri Rush HSG Composite team where I was introduced to the life of college soccer and fully realized that this is what I want to continue doing in college.
Soccer is not the only thing important to me in my life. I also enjoy running varsity cross country for my high school, hanging out with friends and family, and growing in my faith. I work hard at school to maintain a cumulative GPA of 4.437 while taking a variety of Honors and AP classes. I am interested in majoring in either Biomedical, health professions, Kinesiology and Exercise science, Registered Nursing, or Pre-Med while in college. I hope to find a college that pushes me academically, while also helping me achieve my athletic goals.
I am so excited to advance on to the next step of college soccer and to always remember what my dad tells me before every game, "Play hard and have fun".
