Growing up I never took anything for granted. I live in a small apartment with my three younger siblings. My mother is a stay at home mom, and my dad is a mechanic. Money was scarce and more often than not, my parents had to choose between paying bills and paying for soccer. This taught me a lot about modesty, sacrifice, and inspired me to thrive for more and never take anything for granted. Compared to many of my teammates, I started playing when I was 9. Before that, I was a dancer for 7 years. Not only do I strive for excellence in athletics, but I also excel in academics. My unique schooling situation, I did an online program, forced me to become self-sufficient in completing schoolwork and balancing soccer practice. I maintained high standards in academics which has led me to excel in school. My goal for high school is to complete my Advanced Diploma. Last year I earned a 4.19 weighted GPA and ranked 6 out of 526. For college, my goals include getting my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. From there, if I decide to take it further, I will apply for Med School, and become a doctor and join a program such as Doctors Without Borders.
Besides the financial struggle of growing up in a low-income household, I spent my first few years battling a lack of confidence. Many people didn't want me on their team because I was bigger than most people. Besides a few minor obstacles, I had the support of my parents who encouraged and sacrificed so much for me to even get to this point. I never thought that college was a possibility, until now. Coach Printz at Clarke University is one of the many coaches I can thank for giving me a chance, and I can't wait to learn from them.
