Hello! My name is Elise Gillis. I started out playing rec soccer for my town team. As a rec league, we won 4 or more Championships (Town: Newmarket NH). I would like to become either a Lawyer, News Broadcaster, or act in movies. Why am I different? I believe I am different because I had obstacles I had to overcome. For a few years, around middle school, my club team did not play me very much. I was slow, had bad touches, and I never started games. After a while, my beast mode kicked in and I started to work really hard to improve. I saw a private coach to work on skill work and I started dieting and exercising to improve my speed. Now I start games and this entire club season I have never had a sub. I also have scored multiple goals for my club team(I play center defense). I also improved throughout my high school career. Freshmen year I had no goals. I actually stepped up and had to play goalie the last half of our season. Sophomore year I was captain and also our leading scorer(I played striker/midfielder). I can't wait to see what is in store in my future years as I keep on growing and improving. When I am faced with a challenge I find a way to overcome it. If I was to play for you in college, I can assure you I will never give up. I know I will face more hurdles in life, but I always find a way to jump over them. I also care about my team. I always think about what my team needs and how I can play to set them up for success and make us a better team. I love bonding and spending time with my teammates. It was really cool to be the captain of my high school team. I loved helping my fellow teammates and classmates on the field and be the best leader I could be. This experience taught me a lot about being a leader. I also work really hard in my academics. I am not naturally gifted in all subjects. This has taught me how to work hard and reach out for help. I see teachers during my free time to ask questions when I am confused. I take challenging classes so I can be prepared for college.
