Hi, my name is Lula Wamberg, and I am a Senior at Portsmouth Christian Academy, a college preparatory school, in Dover, NH. I am looking for a college that has both academically and athletically excellent programs.
I have been playing soccer year-round since I was ten years old. I have played in three states with a variety of club, travel, rec, private training, junior high, and varsity experiences but my passion and dedication have only increased with the amount of play. When I first stepped onto the pitch, I fell in love with the game, and knew I had found my home. Since then, my dream to play college soccer has grown and I realize the skill, effort, determination, and pure willpower that is needed to succeed. I am putting forth every effort to achieve this goal.
I am the starting left forward and center striker for my high school team but can play any attacking position on the field. Many coaches who have seen me play always say how I can read the game very well. I am a natural athlete who has been successful in many sports. I am a student of the game; I love to watch games as much as possible to learn new techniques and improve my own play. I am very good at knowing when I have made mistakes and am able to correct those in the next play. I am a student of the game and technique. I am the lead scorer with the highest accuracy and power on my team. I am a finisher that is very creative in the field in finding goal scoring opportunities. I have an amazing left shot that is both extremely powerful and accurate. This makes it harder for defenders to defend me as they do not know which way I will shoot. I am bipedal which means, I can use both feet and I do not have to take extra touches to use my right foot. Instead, I am quicker as I can use both feet equally. With this ability, I can play any side of the field.
I made second team all-state my sophomore year and at the end of that season I became captain of my varsity team. Junior year along with being captain, I made second team all-state and Granite state player of the year. With this position as captain, I try to always set the best example I can on and off the field. I love helping develop the newer players on my team. Despite being from a division four school we face formidable opponents. My preparation does not change based on the caliber of the opponent. I am focused with my desire for myself and my team to improve every time we step on the field.
In addition to year-round indoor/outdoor soccer and winter basketball I am an avid mountain biker, downhill skier, paddle boarder, and surfer. I love all outdoor athletic pursuits. I am dedicated to making myself stronger, faster, more technical, and the best player I can be.
In the classroom, I study very hard and hold a 4.0 GPA. I am also actively involved in my school and community, serving on my school's student council, volunteering whenever possible, and involving myself in many clubs, and leadership positions. I want to attend a college where I can challenge myself in both academics and athletics. I am open to many options and want to ultimately find the college that is the best fit for me. Above all else, I aspire to become a successful student, athlete, and role model to all around me, making my Savior and family proud.
