Hi! My name is Sophia Salazar and I attend New Providence High School. The adversities I’ve faced throughout my past 2 highschool seasons have helped shape me into the person and player that I am. While having to endure a mid-season shut down due to Covid, a sectional final loss, and a position change, I’ve still kept a hardworking and positive attitude that I’m looking to bring to the collegiate level.
As a player, I am adaptable, flexible, easily coachable, and communicative. These traits have lended me success when transitioning from center mid to right back and earning a starting spot in that position my freshmen year. As a fast learner, I was able to find success as a right back and helped my team win a conference championship my sophomore year.
As a student and member of my community, I bring the same positive and hardworking attitude that I have on the field. In the classroom, I strive to challenge myself by taking honors classes and earning high grades. While soccer is one of my passions, academic excellence is a priority of mine and I will look for those values when choosing a college. I am also actively involved in my community where I coach a couple of younger teams at my soccer club along with younger kids privately. I share my love for the game with them and seeing it develop within them heightens my passion for the sport.
I’m looking forward to finding a university that will challenge me athletically and academically. I would love to have the opportunity to play for a program that shares similar values to mine. I'm ready to work hard, learn, and grow as a player.
