College is a milestone that some teenagers dread. But to be completely honest with you, it's something I've looked forward to since 8th grade. Branching out of my town and circle is a big box on my to-do list. In college I hope to cross off more things on that list - meeting new people and experiencing a new crowd, building relationships with my teammates, and starting an internship to help forward my career. I'm completely and utterly a team player, I'm fiercely loyal and protective, and my team is like my second family. Ever since I was young, I've been a sucker for the team side of things. I tried swimming, but soon found it didn't share the same hype as running up to your teammate and hugging them after they scored a goal. I always want, and try to be better. My '03 team ends practice at 7:30. If I can, I always try to stay late and practice with the older teams until 9. I'm on the ball for three hours, 3 nights a week, and constantly on the weekends, whether it's at games or with my trainer. I've been on varsity since freshmen year, and started as a sophomore, all while maintaining an average of a 3.9 GPA. These next two years I plan on working and improving on myself, my ball work, and my grades.
I believe soccer brings out the best in me. It drives me to be the better version of myself - on and off the field. I can be a leader, while also finding a second family. I've learned to have patience with others as well as patience with myself, to be empathetic but also enforce some tough love, to have fun while keeping your eye on the goal. The various coaches I've had have all taught me different lessons, none less important then the last - but they've shaped me as a player and a person, and now I'm ready to start a new chapter and the most exciting one yet. College.
