I have been playing team sports my entire life, and they have taught me many valuable life lessons. In the past year I believe I have grown as a leader, teammate and player. After my club team lost in overtime at Regionals a year ago, I was motivated to get better and grow as a player. Since Regionals I have improved in the placement and power of my shots, control of the ball and foot skills, and overall field awareness. This past year, my high school team lost the Section 5 title in double overtime. Although it was a heartbreaking loss, it helped our stamina and endurance. Our team was very young, competing against the defending state champions. After this season, I was named to Private Parochial 1st team and made the GPS National team. I am undeterred by defeat and I know with persistent dedication and work, I can be successful.
Another great motivation in my life is track and field. I ran the 1500m at the New York State track meet in March 2018. After traveling across New York State for 10 hours in a bus in the largest snow storm of the season, I got on the track and ran with others who were older, stronger, whatever the case. I got my PR that day and the experience was over in less than 5 minutes. I have returned to the New York State track meet indoor and outdoor seasons since. I think this early experience has pushed me to work harder. Through soccer and track,my competitive edge and persistence gives me the motivation and dedication to always give 100%.
