I’m a Lakeland High School student in Shrub Oak New York, graduating in 2022, with academic interest in math and education studies. I’m three letter High School Athlete in Soccer, Lacrosse, and track. When I was four I was diagnosed by orthopedic doctor as being bow legged and pigeon toed. This required me to see a physical therapist for several years.
My parents new that the physical therapist sessions would eventually correct the issue. But my parents wanted me to have all the athletic options available to my siblings, so they also enrolled me in peewee soccer. At this young age I was never aware that I had a physical disadvantage. When I look back at it now I probably had to work a little harder than most, and I know I fell more often than most. Nonetheless these actions fueled me and allowed me to make the High School Varsity team as a freshman starter, and play for my clubs U18 USYS Premier 1 League team.
For this reason, soccer is more than a game and it has developed into a life style that has made me into the person I am today. It provides me a release from the pressures of school and social media. When I’m on the field I’m surrounded by people who all have a love of the game, and my only focus is the game. It provides me a time to disconnect and just focus on one thing – the game.
My club Premier team, Northeast Rush, my primary position is a center back (5/4), but I also get minutes as outside back in the 3/2 position. However, I do play multiple position 4, 5, 2, 3, 7, and 11 positions during games.
