Hi, my name is Julianna Roska, and I would like to begin by sharing a bit about myself. I am the eldest child in a family of six. My dad served 20 years in the Navy, so we moved at times over the years to include spending three years in Europe. I have been homeschooled over the years as well, a privilege I am most grateful for.
Soccer, a childhood game I started at age 9 has turned into a passion and continues to grow deeper through each season. While in Europe, ages 11 - 14, I was able to play in two Italian leagues. At age 14, I started for the Naples high school Lady Wildcats soccer team. I also played for Europe ODP my last year there. I am extremely grateful for this once in a lifetime opportunity. Since moving back to the U.S. I have continued to play club ball and ODP, but unfortunately, due to North Carolina Athletic Association laws, I am not eligible to play sports with the public schools.
My strengths on the pitch entail my physical abilities, knowledge of the game, vision, and my attitude. Because I am taller and more powerful than many female soccer players, yet still quick on my feet, I have a dominating presence on the pitch. I am a student of the game, and also regularly study different players, learning new ways to improve myself. My “vision”, as my dad calls it, allows me to assess the field of play accurately to increase possession time and scoring opportunities. I also believe that my attitude sets me apart. I seek to encourage my teammates, and I always go the extra mile. My hard work is not just on the pitch, but also in the classroom. I understand I am a student first and intend to excel in the academic arena. In addition, I have a strong faith-based belief that fuels my confidence and commitment to excellence. Over the years I have also served as a leader for the global youth ministry program, AWANA.
Ultimately, my goal is to play soccer at a highly competitive level with a strong women's' soccer program. I am seeking schools and soccer programs that have a family atmosphere and are a place where I can also excel academically and serve the Lord. I believe my willingness to expand my learning both on and off the pitch academically, athletically and spiritually will be an asset to any team and program I become a part of.
