Ashleigh Plyler '25 Recruiting Profile

Some things to know about me: 

• I'm a team player.  Over the 14 years I've played soccer, I've played wherever my coach needed me.  As a result, I've played every position at some point.  Coaches generally like to play me as a left wing, left outside back, midfielder, center defender, or goalie; however, I'm open to playing wherever I can add value.  I just love being on the pitch as much as possible!  During my freshman year, I played midfielder / center back for my U15 Club team, & I played Goalie for my U16 Club team & High School JV team.   During my sophomore year, I played left wing and outside back for my two U16 club teams, & I played goalie, left wing, and attacking mid for my High School team.

• I'm very competitive.  This can be seen on the soccer field, in the classroom, or in JROTC.  I've achieved a 4.46 / 4.46 GPA while taking Honors & AP classes, playing on / practicing for two club soccer teams & my high school JV team, doing community service, participating in numerous JROTC teams (Armed Drill, Unarmed Drill, Color Guard, Marksmanship, Orienteering, Academic, Physical Training, Drone, & Volleyball), & participating in French Club.  In my freshman year, I won the NJROTC Cadet of the Year award for my class, & I earned four promotions during JROTC to attain Petty Officer Second Class.  In my sophomore year, I earned the Cadet Master Chief position.  As a goalie for my high school JV team, I had a 91.6% save percent record, & my goals against average ratio was 0.571%.

• I believe that one can always improve.  I'm constantly training for soccer year-round by doing club soccer, club off-season league, ODP, camps, training sessions at HyperElite, one-on-one training sessions with a soccer trainer, & my high school's JV soccer team.  I also do training at Architech Sports, which focuses on strength, speed, agility, endurance, performance, & accident prevention.

• I'm coachable.  I know I'm not perfect, & I want to get better.  So, I want to get feedback - good & bad.  I need to know what I'm doing wrong so I can correct it, but I also want to know what I'm doing right so I'll keep doing it.

• I believe in giving back to the community.  In both my freshman and sophomore years, I earned the Bronze Presidential Service Award.  I do community service for several non-profit organizations (Samaritan's Feet, Classroom Central, I'm Possible, TeamTopher,  Room in the Inn, Operation Sandwich, Providence High School, etc.), but I volunteer the most for Charlotte Soccer Academy’s Recreation program.  I want other kids to love soccer as much as I do! 

• I plan to pursue a career in forensic science, criminology, science, or law.  Around four years ago, my brother was killed in a drive-by shooting, & I was devastated by this.  To this day, the murderers haven't been apprehended.  By going into one of these professions, I hope to prevent someone else from having to go through this, or I want to help others get justice if they do.
