My name is Lark Burgess and I am a class of 2023 goalkeeper. After graduation, I look forward to continuing my education and pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering while fulfilling my dream of becoming a collegiate goalkeeper. I am currently a multi-sport athlete, playing both basketball and soccer for my high school. I have been in love with soccer ever since I learned how to kick a ball and it was not long after that when I found out how much I loved playing goalkeeper. Everyone always says it takes a special kind of crazy to want to throw yourself around like that and I have always found myself in that mindset every time I put my gloves on and step on the field.
Regarding my education, I currently attend Living Water Christian School in Jacksonville, North Carolina. I currently hold a 3.56 GPA as well as attend my local community college for classes throughout the school year.
Some skills and characteristics I encapsulate that mold me into a well rounded goalkeeper are that I take my own goal kicks efficiently and effectively, I have the footwork necessary to be able to receive and distribute a pass quickly and effectively, I have a good kick and shot making me good at taking free kicks or penalty kicks, I have a very unique personality which makes me a one of a kind player and a great asset to any team I play on, I am very good at communicating and articulating myself with a purpose on and off the field, I have good hand eye coordination skills as a product of playing basketball, and lastly, I am 6’0” with good reach and wingspan making it easy for me to cover space in my box.
