Soccer is not just a sport to me; it has become a part of who I am. I began playing soccer when I was seven years old. Every Saturday the entire family would go down to the field. Dad would coach my team, and Mom and my sister would cheer us on. In the beginning, it was about family time for me. As I continued playing and practicing, I increased my ball skills and vision to create plays. Soccer has not only taught me to love and appreciate the game, but also taught me about leadership, teamwork, and dedication. The passion to play hard and push myself mentally and physically until I hear the whistle blow is the gift of soccer. It is a gift I have internalized and use in all areas of my life.
