Alyssa Abernot '18 Recruiting Profile

My goal is to find a university that has a strong academic record and a soccer program that will enable me to continue to develop as a player.  I have been playing soccer since I was 5 years old and competitively since I have been 8.  At the age of 10 I committed to being a full time goalkeeper.  Since then I have trained with Just 4 Keepers in addition to my club training to continue to develop my technical skills and continually strive to be the best goalkeeper I can be.

Currently I play for the Stoney Creek Battalion which competes in the OYSL division, which is the highest competitive division in Ontario.  Our team has been consistently ranked as one of the top teams in Canada over the last several years and we have been to the Ontario Cup finals the past 3 years winning 1 Ontario Cup and winning a Canadian National Championship.  

I am actively involved at my school playing on the Varsity soccer team, Volleyball team and Track and Field team.   I have played multiple sports growing up such as gymnastics, baseball, competitive hockey and karate where I achieved the rank of Brown belt.

I have a strong academic record being on the Honor Roll for Grade 9 and in middle school.  

 I am also a member of several committees at school currently sitting on the Athletic Council and previously on the Self Awareness Council and the Breakfast Club where we served meals to the students that couldn't provide their own. In addition, I volunteer at the Farley Foundation which helps raise funds to subsidize the cost of veterinary care for their pets.

Although I am still young in my soccer career I have been fortunate to have had much success in my soccer career and my desire is to play on a team that allows me to be the best I can be as well as provide for the team and to succeed with the team.
