Hi, my name is Olivia MacKay and I currently play for St. Peter Catholic HS and TNT ELITE out of Iowa Showcase Team) and I also play for Ottawa Futsal. I have played center back for the OTFC ( Ottawa Toronto Football Club in the OPDL League (Ontario Player Development League) ip until this past week. I’ve decided to make a move that is in my best interest and to learn new skills. I’ve been playing soccer since age 4, then Academy at age 8 followed by the first year I was able to play OPDL which was at 12. I am in grade 11 at St. Peter Catholic HS in Orleans Ontario. I am 16 years old, 5’11 and I weigh 130lbs.
I am passionate about playing the game of soccer and have been ever since I first started playing. Even at the age of four I had a defensive mindset. I hated when my team was scored on. I still carry that defensive mindset to this day! I am confident that I display leadership qualities and characteristics on a daily basis that will help me achieve my goal of playing at the university level. I strive to be the hardest working player in practice and during the games. I don’t take shortcuts and I usually put in extra work at home or on days off by working out in my basement . I did this by doing cardio, weights or ball/footwork drills. I have a growth mindset in the sense that I know that in all areas of my life I need to have balance and make improvements. At a young age I started making personal, team, school and family goals that I would strive to accomplish.I would set short term goals and long term goals that were ongoing. I did this by consulting with my parents, coaches and also self reflection. By participating in soccer at this level it has taught me to be disciplined, a team player, sacrifice and great at time management. School is very important to me and I make the time to have my homework, assignments or projects completed well in advance. As I strive to be the best I can be on the soccer field I also strive to be the best in the classroom. I currently have a 94% average this semester with a 97% in math. One of my academic goals this year was to win the math award for my grade. I’ve been on the honour roll for the past two years. Usually at the midpoint of my season and at the end of the season I would reassess my goals to see how I have followed through. I would fix what needed to be addressed , tweak other goals and maybe even set new ones. I would always seek assistance with my goal setting and reassessment from my parents and my coaches to make sure I’m on the right path. I love soccer. I lookout for my teammates and I give it everything I have on a daily basis. It’s a lot of time and work and dedication but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Video Analysis: I’ve been doing a lot more video review of good games and not so good games, previewing my opponents and I’ve found it is a huge help. I did some video work with my coach a few days ago and it was so helpful!
My highlight video will be accessible on my X account (@OliviaMackay15_ )as I was unable to update all of my videos on this platform.
I have joined Ottawa Futsal just this week. My goal is to improve my ball and footwork. I will be playing against Sr. Boys and Competive girls.
I have developed a weight training program and weekly routine in addition to Futsal and weight training I’ve also included running 5k (5-6x/week) and ball work drills to fine tune and improve my areas that need improvement.
Mentally: I’ve also continued to use mindfulness and positive thinking throughout my training and daily life including academically and even with family, frIends and going to sleep at an early time. I used guided meditation to help fall asleep. It’s great! In addition I use a gratitude journal for what I’m greatful for on a daily basis. It’s been great!
