Hello, my name is Ariel Young. I currently play for the Ottawa Fury FC Elite Girls Academy here in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. You may know that the men's Fury Team plays in the NASL. I am a nationally identified player here in Canada at the U15 level (born in 2001). I am left footed but my right foot is very good too. I typically play in midfield or on the back line.
I love to compete and I am a team player ... What makes me different? I have been told that whenever I play I have a controlling influence on the game. Others have complemented me because they say that I can be tactical, technical, physical and cerebral all at the same time. For me though, I like to think of myself as trying to be better every time I play ... aside from winning, that is what makes soccer fun! I am anxiously looking forward to the day that I can be part of a competitive group of like-minded girls on a college/university team.
Some of my recent soccer accomplishments (in no particular order) are as follows:
2015 – REX Program – Identified as one of 22 girls born in 2001 for Ontario’s Regional Excel Program (REX). This is the feeder program for Canada’s national teams.
2016 & 2015 – Ontario Provincial Team – For the last two consecutive years, I was selected for Ontario’s provincial team from girls across Ontario who were born in 2001. Ontario is the largest in population of Canada's 10 provinces.
2016 – Selected to the Ottawa Fury Elite Girls Academy as a 14yr old – The Fury Elite academy currently consists of players aged 14-18 years old and plays in the Ontario provincial U18 league. I was the youngest player on my team this year.
2015 – Player’s Player Award – At my previous club, Ottawa South United, I was voted “player’s-player” by my OPDL team mates.
