Kaitlyn Guernsey '17 Recruiting Profile

Soccer wasn't the first sport I fell in love with, in fact I never showed any interest in the game until I was 12 when all my friends played so I thought "why not?". I went out for the local L6 travel team with very little to no soccer knowledge or skills. In the end I made the team, definitely not because of my talent but because of my natural athletic capability, competitive drive, and willingness to learn. Over the years my soccer skills have surely improved but my athletic capability ,competitive drive and willingness to learn have never faded. 

The position I'm most comfortable as is centre back, I know the importance of switching the field and use my fullbacks immensely during games for those quick one two switches to get up the field,  I also posses a lot of speed leaving me capable to catch any players who may have gotten through the line.  Although I've always been most comfortable as a defender I'm a versatile player and very much willing to play wherever's needed. 

As I near the end of my time in High School and have started to think about my post-secondary education I've realized I'm not ready to be done competitive soccer. I want to continue playing at a high level of competitive soccer after high school while still being able to have a shared focus of education with my athletics. The idea of being at my top fitness capability and playing for a college/university excites me and drives me to train harder.
