My name is Haleigh Ward and I am an attack-minded winger and forward. I do well in beating defenders 1 vs. 1 with my pace and creating scoring opportunities from the wide areas. I always strive to play at a higher level and currently play for the GPS National Team.
I have been playing soccer for over 12 years and I am always working hard to improve as a player and teammate. I encourage my teammates to work hard in every game and practice. I am a leader on the field and am a captain of my high school varsity team. Soccer is the sport that motivates me to do my best in all aspects of life. I have tried other sports like dance, basketball, and gymnastics, but nothing has stuck with me like soccer has.
For the past three years, I have coached recreation soccer teams at Ocean State Soccer. I have gotten the opportunity to coach U7 boys and U9 girls and although this was a challenge, I learned a lot about the game from this experience. I was able to see the game through a coach’s perspective and spread my knowledge about soccer to others.
Soccer has and always will mean everything to me and I hope to play as long as I possibly can. I am a player which a coach can count on to always give my all and I will always be the person that my teammates can count on, on and off the field. I know that playing collegiate soccer will make my college experience so much better than it would be if I were not playing soccer. I have trouble imagining myself not playing after high school, so I am determined to work hard to get to where I need to be to play at the college level.
